So... My little 3/4 Stella build... 23" scale, 14" lower bout... Ladder braced with a tailpiece.

I knocked up a cherry bridge for it. Seems to work good enough. Intonates well.... But it looks out of place. I am leaning towards replacing it with Rosewood... Either that or stain it with a dark stain and polish it. I suppose I could go "period correct" and just paint it black with muffler paint... But I like rosewood.

Opinions?

Here are pix of the guitar in question. as usual - click thumbnails for full size pix.

Well John, I wasn't going to say it but you asked. The bridge and the back of the headstock look like you quit in the middle of the job. Make a Rosewood bridge with a more refined shape and refinish the neck to match the original color. Sorry for being harsh, but you did a fine job on the rest this little guitar, now finish it off right.

Lol. Yep - I wanted to play it so bad that I just knocked it together so I could play it.

Rosewood or something rosewoodish it is then. That's kinda what I was thinking - but I have seen many of these with painted wood bridges that I thought there may be a good reason for that sort of thing.

Thanks.

I would also go with a dark rosewood or ebony bridge. The cherry stands out but not necessarily in a good way.
